The new Premier League season has arrived and we’ve seen a small taste of what to expect from each team.

Man City vs Chelsea was a key fixture, and Pep got off to winning ways with Haaland scoring on the opening day of the season for the third year in a row. For Chelsea it looks like another time to start all over again in terms of building and the understanding between players and the coach, but the key thing will be goals.

Arsenal also started on a winning note, with Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka giving Mikel Arteta’s side an ideal start in their mission to end a 21-year wait for the title.

Liverpool were also winners against Ipswich, giving Arne Slot a debut victory. It can be a bit nervy when its your first game in charge of a new club, especially when there is a bit of a step up in terms of the quality of the league and the expectation, so you know relief would be one of the big emotions for Slot.

Brighton were the pace setters after a convincing 3-0 win over Everton, which was a miserable start to the season for the Toffees in their season that will see them say farewell to Goodison Park.

Joelinton helped a 10-man Newcastle side to an opening-day win over newly-promoted Southampton which would have been another big relief for Eddie Howe after seeing the red card in the first half.

One of the big surprises from the first round was Leicester holding Spurs to a 1-1 draw. Jamie Vardy was the man to get the goal for Leicester. Vardy has the most Premier League goals after the age of 30 than any other player, with 103, and it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of impact he can have for Leicester this season. For Spurs it was a hugely frustrating game that they know they should have won with the chances they had, but all they could get was a point.

The Premier League is back and I’m looking forward to the weekend’s action already!
