There are just three games left in the Premier League in 2024, and the table is starting to take shape with some interesting battles. There are just three points separating Bournemouth in 6th with Man United down in 12th, and we’ll expect lots of movement within that section of the table over those next three games.

But most eyes are on the top of the table, where Liverpool currently lead by two points. They have a game in hand due to their local derby with Everton being postponed due to bad weather, so they have an extra advantage there, but this next batch of games will be crucial for building momentum and confidence for 2025.

Arne Slot couldn’t have hoped for a better start to his new role as Liverpool boss and his team deserve to be at the top with the best defensive record in the league, and the 4th best attack in terms of goals scored. Mo Salah has continued to be one of Liverpool’s start men, and he has cemented himself as a Liverpool legend. His future has been in doubt but he seems close to signing a contract extension at Liverpool which will come as great news to fans if it happens. But like we all know things can change last minute.

He’s the current top scorer in the league (joint with Haaland) with 13 goals in 15 games and we will expect the streak to continue.

But Sir Alex Ferguson once said “attack wins you games, defence wins you titles,” and that is something Arne Slot appears to agree on, with his side conceding just 13 goals so far. But Sir Alex also said one of the key moments in the season is how good your run is in this busy period throughout December and January.

Hot on Liverpool’s heels is Chelsea, who do have the very best attack in the league with 37 goals. Chelsea have now won five games in a row in the league, capitalising on Liverpool and Arsenal both dropping points in two games over the same period. Chelsea are looking good, with Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson leading the goal-scoring for the Blues.

Arsenal are also in pursuit, although they have only won half of their 16 games so far this season, with six draws and two losses on their record. It puts them six points behind Liverpool but with a long way to go they are certainly still in the race and Arteta’s core focus is getting some consistency and starting a run of good form.

Liverpool’s next three games see them face Spurs, Leicester and West Ham, while Arsenal play Palace, Ipswich and Brentford. Chelsea are up against Everton, Fulham and Ipswich. #mmlove
