We’ve got two exciting semi-final second legs to look forward after the first round this week.

On Tuesday night it looked like City were going to dominate the game against Real Madrid, but Real showed yet again that they can hurt you out of nowhere based on the level of talent they have in the squad. City had most of the ball but it was Vinicius Jr who opened the scoring with a shot that looked like it could have taken the net off. And what a player Vini Jr is – you can put your fastest player against him and he will cut onside to find a way.

It was Real’s first shot and it came after 36 minutes, but it didn’t matter to Ancelotti’s side. In the second half Real Madrid took control, but then it was City who came back with a great strike from Kevin De Bruyne, regardless of the debate about whether or not the ball went out of play in the build up. When Haaland doesn’t score City cans seem to rely on De Bruyne to make the difference, and he looked overwhelmed with emotion as he celebrated.

It was two wonderful goals that meant the final score was 1-1 and we go into the second leg at The Etihad with everything to play for.

Then on Wednesday night it was a huge game for the people of Milan and their fans around the world as AC and Inter clashed at San Siro. Inter were by far the better team and got off to a great star with two goals in the first 15 minutes of the game. Inter’s energy and focus was there and ready to face anything Milan had.

They could have had more with a few more chances that came close and a penalty that was overturned by VAR, and in the end AC Milan will have felt like they came off lucky with the scoreline reading just 2-0 at full time.

It’s not the worst deficit to try and overcome in the second leg but they will need to come out with a totally different approach if they want to have a chance of progressing to the final. They’ll be hoping Leao will be back and be able to use his unpredictability and skills in attack to help grab some goals, because you could see he was a big miss for them. It was the defence that needed the most work though as it was too easy for Inter to create chances.

It’s not easy to predict who will make the final at this point but it certainly does look like we’ll have two entertaining second legs to look forward to. #mmlove
