It’s official! Burnely are a Premier Club again next season after their 2-1 win over Middlesborough. Vincent Kompany has done a great job this season to get his club promoted so early, but knowing his mindset he will already be thinking about how the team can continue to improve for next season.

“We’re not first in the Championship, we’re 21st in English football. That’s why we can’t rest,” he said a few weeks ago after his side’s 6-0 defeat to Man City in the FA Cup.

Kompany was a great leader on the field and was instrumental in Man City’s rise to the top of English football. He now looks like a great leader off the pitch and that mindset of not stopping and wanting to climb higher and higher is nothing less than you would expect from Vincent.

Burnley still have six games left to play this season, but have so far only been beaten twice and Kompany has been awarded four Championship Manager of the Month Awards, having two back-to-back perfect months in December and January where Burnley took maximum points to fly to the top of the table.

Kompany now has his sights on winning the Championship title and possible even breaking Reading’s record of most points in a Championship season. Burnley would break the record of 106 points if they win all remaining games, which would put them on 108 points.

“We could potentially be the champions at the weekend if things go our way. It’s now for us to set the bar even higher – see if there’s something beyond that,” said Kompany suggesting there is motivation in breaking Reading’s record. “We’ve always got to look forward to something,” he said.

This Burnely will be a great addition to the Premier League next season and it’s going to be interesting to see how well that can do in a league that is becoming more and more competitive each year. #mmlove
