Romelu Lukaku received more than his fair share of naysayers when he was at Man United. He never found his best form at the club, which is down to a number of reasons, and fans eventually turned against the Belgian striker.

A move away from England was inevitable, and it was Antonio Conte who snapped him up on deadline day and flew him out to Milan, to lead the line for Inter.

You could see a change in Lukaku as soon as he stepped out in the famous blue and black jersey. He looked much sharper and was scoring regularly, and has so far this season netted 21 goals in 30 games for Inter, breaking the record for fastest player to break the 20 goal mark in an Inter shirt. That means he had to achieve the feat even faster than the likes of Ronaldo, Adriano, Crespo, Eto’o and Klinsmann.

Now Inter are level on points with Juve at the top of Serie A and pose a real title threat. Juve have won the league seven times in a row, and with Cristiano firing on all cylinders are the favourites to lift the trophy again. But Conte is aiming for his sixth Serie A title and Lukaku could be one of the main men to help him do it.

This Inter team has a feared back three with Milan Skriniar, Diego Godin and Stefan de Vrij, and have only conceded 20 goals in 23 league games this season.

There is a great balance, and it looks like Conte knows exactly what kind of team he needs to knock Juve off their throne and compete in Europe. You can see that he has got some of the guys, including Lukaku, firing again and he has brought back the happiness. Seeing other teams getting stronger in Serie A will bring the league back to the level and respect where it should be.

This weekend they have a big game with Lazio, who currently sit third and have also conceded just 20 goals. If Lazio win they could go top depending on Juve’s result, so they can’t be discounted from the title race either.

What I like about Lukaku is that he never lost the belief in himself and I think this is a key aspect for any player. When you’re a striker and your happy everything is possible and I am sure he has learned a lot from his time at Man Utd, and knows what to do to get back to his best.

All I hope is that he finishes the season well and takes this great form into the Euros, because it is about time the great and talented Belgium team starts to show the world what we have been expecting them to do. #mmlove
