The FA Cup is always full of surprises and this past weekend was no different with one of the biggest shocks being last year’s winners Liverpool being knocked out by Brighton, leaving the Reds with just the Champions League trophy left to play for this season.

Brighton have been great this season and in the league they’re currently 6th with games in hand over the teams above them. It’s been a great season for Brighton and they did beat Liverpool 3-0 in the league two weeks ago, so we shouldn’t be too surprised to see them win again. What is surprising is that Klopp are now out of every competition except the Champions League before February, and they face Real Madrid which will be a tough game home and away.

The game was heading for a draw when Mitoma produced a great piece of control before firing home to shock Klopp and his team. They are flying high and it’s going to be exciting to see just how far Brighton can go this season, in the cup and the league, and if they can continue to build and strengthen.

That must have been one of the key reasons for wanting to hold on to Caicedo, knowing that they could have gone for the money but had the objective of keeping him as the leader in the building process.

Elsewhere in the FA Cup there was plenty of drama in Sheffield United’s Game, as they found themselves 3-2 down to Wrexham who are in the 5th tier, but came back with 10 men to draw the game deep into stoppage time. Wrexham earned a replay and could face Spurs in the next round if they can overcome Sheffield Utd.

Sunderland were another team that did better than some will have expected, drawing with Fulham who like Brighton are performing well in the Premier League. Amad Diallo was Sunderland’s main threat, on loan from Manchester United, the 20-year-old caused problems for Fulham with his dribbling and link up play, and helped his team earn a home replay.

I’m sure there will be more to come in terms of surprises in the FA Cup, as there always is! #mmlove
