It was a very short break this year but the Premier League is back again and we’ve now had chance to see every club in action.
One of the most interesting games of the opening two weeks was the champions against the newcomers, Liverpool vs Leeds. I think most fans have been interested to see how Bielsa’s side would be able to compete with the big teams in the Premier League but not many would have expected them to score three. Liverpool did come out as winners with their four goals but it was an exciting game that Leeds fans would have to say they were happy with, and Liverpool fans would be disappointed at their defence.
Leeds won their second game against Fulham 4-3 so we know which side to keep an eye on for goals!
Liverpool’s second game was at Stamford Bridge and it was another exciting prospect for their fans. Chelsea were down to 10 men just before half-time and were punished by two Mane goals. A missed penalty from Jorginho ended hopes of getting back into the game and it looks like Chelsea do need some time and have a way to go before reaching Liverpool’s level. Havertz is still settling in and, Chillwell, Ziyech and Thiago Silva are still waiting for their debuts but their time will come and it will be interesting to see how the Blues develop over the season.
Arsenal got their season underway with back to back wins, while Everton, Leicester and Crystal Palace also made perfect starts. We’ve only seen the two Manchester clubs in action once so all eyes will be on them this weekend. United’s defeat to Palace came as a shock so we’ll see how they react when they face Brighton.
Momentum is important early on in the season so it’s Chelsea and Man United that need the big responses. #mmlove
