Man City have made another fast start to the Premier League season, as they always seem to do, and Arsenal being the team who have been closest to them over the past two seasons are focused on keeping the pressure on and making this their year.

Arsenal after dropping points against Brighton before the International break you might say the pressure was on for Arteta. City sailed to a 2-1 win over Brentford thanks to a Haaland brace on the Saturday to make it four wins from four. Arsenal then knew if they dropped more points the gap could be four or five points.

It’s very early in the season but psychologically that would have been a lot for Arsenal to handle, knowing that City were driving forward and Arsenal were not on the same pace.

The North London derby is always a bit of a fierce game too so it was not a straightforward one, but in the end it was a Gabriel header that made the difference, giving Arsenal their third straight win at Spurs.

Arsenal’s defence was key, and they looked solid and organised at the back. Spurs had almost 70% of possession but couldn’t find a break through.

Arsenal frustrated Spurs and it might not have been the prettiest way to win, but the important thing is the job was done and no more ground was lost on the league leaders.

Next weekend it’s that big fixture where Arsenal will travel to Manchester to face City. It will be a big ask for Arteta’s team to come away with all three points, but it’s their chance to leapfrog City and take the advantage early on in the title race.

I hope the last two seasons of ‘almost’ will not have a negative impact on the players minds, but rather motivates them. We know how much City prepare, so let’s hope Arsenal know what is needed to keep their foot on the pedal #mmlove
