Spain are dominating the international football game right now.

Everybody knows they lifted the trophy in Berlin after beating England in the Euro 2024 final, and most agreed that they were deserved winners with the most exciting and positive football. The team is young too with the likes of Limine Yamal, Nico Williams and Gavi who we expect will be playing together on the international stage for many years to come.

Spain are also the Nations League title holders, and you can only see them improving before the World Cup in a couple of years’ time.

But away from the men’s senior team, Spain are winning at other levels and in the women’s game too.

This weekend Spain also won the men’s U19 Euro Championship after beating France U19 2-0 in the final. And they’re also the Women’s World Cup title holders, Nations League winners and champions at the U17, U19 and U20 levels.

The culture of Spanish football is booming and that is shown in La Liga too, where Real Madrid are attracting some of the best players from around the world and have been the best team in the Champions League in recent history.

It’s clear that there is strong youth development in Spain and the talents keep coming. Lamine Yamal is the most obvious example but we’re seeing it across every age group coming through. The way they play is very technical, with a focus on possession, passing and positional awareness.

This is clearly something that is drilled into players from an early age and the philosophy is working wonders. But the secret is to make sure you don’t start to get too comfortable and so far they are succeeding and showing everyone they have the magic touch at the moment.

You can only congratulate the country of Spain for being so dominant, and we’ll see how long they can stay at the top of the game. #mmlove
