Bournemouth’s red hot form in the Premier League continued with their fifth win in seven games. It’s created space between themselves and the bottom three, and the latest points were at the expense of Man Utd.

The 3-0 defeat made it United’s worst start to a Premier League campaign in decades, and it was Bournemouth’s first ever win at Old Trafford. The players were booed off the pitch at full-time and even though Ten Hag took ownership of much of the blame, we can see it is inconsistency from his players that is causing problems.

“I think, as a squad, we are not good enough to be consistent and we have to work to improve that. We are really inconsistent, we have the abilities to do it, but you have to do it every game,” said Ten Hag after full-time.

Next there are some big fixtures, with Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday which is a must-win if they want to progress to the group stages, followed by Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League at the weekend.

Both of those games will be tough but the bigger picture is that there seems to be a pattern at Man Utd, where a new manager comes in and has a good season but then drops off in their second season. In the past the managers have been sacked and a new one brought in, but that approach has not worked for Man Utd and Ten Hag should be given a lot more time to build his philosophy into the team despite short-term results.

His main focus should be the character of each individual because in some he can see the quality but the dedication can be questioned sometimes.

That’s the only way Man Utd can make real progress, but the pressure from fans can become too much if things aren’t put back onto the right path quickly, so Ten Hag still needs to make sure things are turned around the the direction is a good one for United. #mmlove
