There was a football feast on display on Sunday when Spurs hosted Chelsea in the Premier League.

For neutrals it was a thrilling and entertaining match, while for Spurs and Chelsea fans it was a rollercoaster of emotions that ultimately saw Blues leave beaming and Spurs fans with their heads down, with an impressive comeback giving Chelsea all three points to help them go second in the table. Meanwhile Spurs are way down in 11th and five points off the pace in the battle for European football.

It was Spurs who took an early lead through Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski, who made the scoreline 2-0 after just 11 minutes. Both goals included a slip by Marc Cucurella, who went on to change his boots after struggling with the conditions at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The game then began to shift, and there was no plan B for Spurs as they were trying to take the speed out of the game after going 2-0 up. And then the blow came when Jadon Sancho pulled one back not too much later, with the scoreline reading 2-1 when the players went in for the half-time break.

And it was Chelsea that came out stronger in the second half, with Cole Palmer scoring a penalty on the hour mark to bring the game even.

The momentum continued and the comeback was complete when Fernandez made it 3-2, and Palmer put the icing on the cake with a second penalty, this time a panenka, to show us why they call him Cold Palmer. He has pure confidence and brought an even bigger smile to the Blues fan’s faces.

That was Palmer’s 11th penalty goal in the Premier League, which makes him the player with the most penalties converted without missing any in Premier League history.

Son did get another goal for Spurs in injury time, but the final whistle went shortly after and it was a 4-3 win for Chelsea. Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are the top scorers in the Premier League with 35 goals from 15 games so far.

Not many people expected Chelsea to be second in the table at Christmas, so if they can keep the momentum and continue winning at this pace it will be a great way to start the new year. Knowing that my focus was on getting back into the Champions League for this season but it looks very interesting at the moment #mmlove
